Manchester Airport AA flights to get mobile boarding passes
American Airlines' (AA) passengers flying from Manchester will be able to use their mobile phones to board their flight, after the airline announced eight new airports are to adopt the system.
Using a two-dimensional barcode, the technology is now in place at 50 airports worldwide, with Barcelona, New York's JFK, San Juan in Puerto Rico, Rome, Frankfurt, Milan and Zurich newly added.
The airline's vice-president Andrew Watson said the addition of these new airports is "exciting".
"An even greater number of our customers will be able to select the option to display their boarding pass on their mobile phone – speeding the process at the airport and eliminating the need for a paper boarding pass," he added.
The news comes after Jet2.com announced it is increasing its services between Manchester and Tel Aviv.
