Heathrow Airport scanners 'in 3 weeks'Heathrow Airport could see the introduction of full body scanners in as soon as three weeks time.

This is according to DirectGov, which announced that other additional security measures will also be implemented to protect passengers.

Holidaymakers and business travellers may wish to book into an airport hotel or airport parking at the travel hub to ensure that they arrive in plenty of time for the additional security checks.

UK airport snow and travel updateFlights departing from Manchester Airport and Liverpool Airport in the north-west were cancelled this morning (January 5th) and heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures have been causing travel chaos for many travellers in the UK.

Further blankets of snow are expected to cover central and southern England as well as south-eastern areas of Wales over the next 24 hours.

"Bitterly cold and wintry weather is forecast to continue for the next couple of weeks with further snowfall expected at times," the Met Office has reported.

Heathrow Airport 'to receive full-body scanners'Heathrow Airport could see additional security measures in the form of full-body scanners installed "as soon as is practical", the British Airports Authority (BAA) has said.

This announcement has come in response to the botched airline bomb attack which occurred on Christmas Day on a flight to Detroit in the US.

Manchester Airport is currently trialling the machines - which cost around £80,000 each.
