Airport car park developers apply for planning permissionDevelopers hoping to build a new airport parking facility for Bristol Airport have applied for planning permission to turn a nearby mushroom farm in Langford into a park and ride facility.

Bristol Park and Fly has applied to turn land at Monaghan’s Mushroom Farm into airport parking with a capacity of 1,200 spaces.

However, members of the Churchill and Langford parish council have called for authorities to take a cautious approach towards the new project’s application. Valerie Langley, a parish councillor, told the Weston and Somerset Mercury: "There should be more control on issues like this through the local authority."

The new airport parking facility signals the intentions, revealed last year, of Bristol Airport to undertake a massive expansion however, concerns that the plans do not adequately address climate change have been raised.

Bristol Airport recently renovated some of its airport lounges and opened an exclusive lounge providing travellers with internet access, complimentary newspapers as well as drinks and snacks.
