New figures have revealed that Edinburgh Airport has overtaken Glasgow as Scotland’s busiest hub.
According to managing director of the airport David Johnston, it is experiencing "strong growth", while the terrorist attacks on Glasgow in June have seen passenger numbers dwindle.
Speaking to the Scotsman, Mr Johnston added: "We are extremely busy, but our key priorities remain security, safety and service.
"Our newly opened security search area on the ground floor of the terminal is helping to ease congestion at peak times and ensuring 95 per cent of passengers pass through security within five minutes."
The latest figures show that an average of 24,000 passengers used Scottish capital’s airport over the last 12 months.
Earlier this year, the Scotsman reported that the airport seen its busiest day on record with June 29th welcoming 35,782 passengers through its terminal doors.
The figure marks an 800-person increase on the airport’s previous summer holiday record.
