Sanjeev Bhaskar, the former star of popular TV sketch show Goodness Gracious Me, is set to join the cast of West End comedy musical Spamalot.
The actor will take over the role of King Arthur from June 23rd.
Spamalot, which is a theatre spin-off of the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, will not represent Bhaskar’s first appearance in the West End, as he previously starred in Art at the Whitehall Theatre.
The comedy actor will perform alongside Nina Soderquist, who plays the Lady of the Lake, and Jake Nightingale as Sir Lancelot, among others.
Spamalot has posted closing notices for January 3rd 2009 at the Palace Theatre, in preparation for a UK tour which will begin in April 2009.
Another popular West End musical, The Sound of Music, has had its booking period extended by four months, meaning that tickets for the London Palladium show are now on sale up to February 28th 2009.
