London City Airport to launch Denmark flights

London City Airport is to welcome a new service to the Danish city of Billund.

The two daily flights will be offered by Sun-Air, a franchise partner of British Airways.

Dornier 328 British Airways-branded aircraft will be used on the route, which is expected to prove popular with both business and leisure passengers.

Flights from the Docklands airport will leave at 10:30 GMT and 20:35 GMT between Monday and Friday, with an evening service only on Sundays.

Niels Sundberg, chief executive of Sun-Air, explained that the carrier has been looking to offer services at London City for some time.

"The airport is located close to London’s commercial and financial districts, and it therefore has its focus on business travellers and their needs," he said.

"Furthermore due to the airport’s size passengers can be on their way to a meeting just a few minutes after arriving at the airport. Another advantage is the ability for passengers with hand baggage only to check-in for a flight up to 20 minutes before departure – that’s unique."
