Luton Airport has unveiled the latest artist to be included in its Gateway Gallery.
David Lowther, who taught art in Bedfordshire for 25 years, will be exhibiting a range of paintings based on Seamus Heaney's poem Storm on the Island until the end of September.
"They have been developed from combinations and re-workings of small imaginative drawings and jottings, and have evolved into paintings which hover between reality and abstraction," Mr Lowther explained.
Located in the arrivals area of Luton Airport, the Gateway Gallery is designed to allow local artists to display their work to members of the public.
The gallery has been created as part of the Luton Airport Community Engagement Strategy.
Stansted Airport has also been investing in the local community recently. The hub's Community Fund granted money to a local town partnership to boost its annual In Bloom project.
Ware In Bloom received £2,350 which will be spent on new gardening equipment and a trailer to transport plants and flowers around the town.
