Stansted Airport has announced the project that it will donate £50,000 from its charity fund to.
The travel hub revealed that the winner of the community challenge is a project to form a new green in the village of Hatfield Broad Oak.
This one-off donation has been awarded by the Stansted Community Fund, which is part of BAA Communities Trust, a grant making charity.
As part of the scheme the grazing land at the centre of the community will be turned into recreational and sporting facilities.
"We had a fantastic response to the community challenge and we're delighted to be able to make this donation and support the Hatfield Broad Oak Village Green project. There is no doubt that the scheme will bring many benefits both to the local community and the environment for generations to come," Bob Wainwright, chair of the Stansted Community Fund, said.
He added that the cash had been applied for by a variety of worthy causes and that each project was carefully reviewed by members of the fund.
In addition, Luton Airport recently announced that it was pleased with how it had helped the local community last year.
