Travellers using Edinburgh Airport will soon be able to fly on new routes to Mexico and Florida.
For the summer 2012 season Thomson Airways will begin launching flights from the travel hub to Florida and the Mexican city of Cancun.
“Our passengers and stakeholders are continually asking us for more direct flights from the capital so I’m delighted to be announcing these new destinations from Edinburgh to Cancun and Florida,” Keith Brown, the travel hub’s managing director, said.
Paul Cooper, head of airport negotiations for Thomson Airways said that the company was "fully committed" to working with Scotland's regional airports and wanted to offer its customers more flexibility and choice without them having to travel a considerable distance to reach an airport.
Flights to the two new destinations can be booked by travellers for summer next year. Return flights to Florida start from £689 and ones to Cancun from £609 per passenger.
Passengers can also reach a number of other destinations in the US from Edinburgh Airport, including Orlando and New York.
