Charity bike race takes place with Gatwick Airport's supportGatwick Airport supported a charity bike race that was held for St Catherine's Hospice last weekend.

The Sussex Weald Bike Race on May 22nd saw more than 350 cyclists leave Handover Cross School and travel on a number of different routes, ranging from ten to 44 miles, through the Sussex countryside.

Gatwick Airport, which sponsored the ride, were thanked by Jen Wickham, the organiser of the event, who added that she was "delighted" by the turnout for the ride.

One participant, 89-year-old George Brown, told the West Sussex County Times: "It was a tough at times but it’s a great feeling to finish."

In addition, Edinburgh Airport will also be involved in a charity bike ride in June, when a group of BA CityFlyer staff will journey from the travel hub to London City Airport, the Messenger reported.

On June 19th they will leave the Scottish facility and travel to London on the same route that a plane would take 20 minutes to fly.
