Gatwick Airport is set to operate a service to Lagos with Air Nigeria, the first international route the airline has flown to outside Africa.
From September 1st, Air Nigeria will fly the route once each day, with flights leaving Gatwick Airport at 22:30 BST and landing in Nigeria at 04:30 local time the following day.
The return flights will depart the African country ay 14:10 local time and arrive in London at 20:10 BST.
Guy Stephenson, commercial director at Gatwick Airport, said: "It is great to welcome Air Nigeria and reconnect London Gatwick with Lagos. The UK has a large Nigerian community and there are strong trade and investment ties between the two countries so it is important that we maintain good air transport connections."
Visitors to Lagos may want to experience the beaches in the area, which include Lekki beach and Bar beach, or may wish to visit the Nigerian National Museum.
