Leeds Bradford Airport offers flights to Malaga, with the Spanish city being described by one travel expert as a "little treasure" in the Costa del Sol.
Antonio Montejo Romero, a spokesman for the Malaga City Tourist and Convention Bureau, stated that the area is not particularly well known to holidaymakers.
"When you ask them 'have you been to Malaga?' they say yes they have been there many times, but have they been in the city?" he questioned.
According to Mr Romero, many people are aware of the destination's sandy beaches, but he added that it has an abundance of "wonderful momentous heritage" from cultures around the world.
As examples, he cited a Roman amphitheatre, a 14th-century Arabian castle and an Alcabaza – the latter of which is a Moorish fortification.
Royal Caribbean recently increased its capacity on flights from Leeds Bradford Airport, with there now being weekly journeys to Malaga throughout the summer.
