Travellers hoping to explore Kenya's history may wish to book flights to Mombasa from Manchester Airport, after one industry expert called the city a cultural hotspot.
Angie Sloan, Kenya Tourist Board UK director, stated that Mombasa's Old Town is particularly worth visiting because it offers cultural attractions dating back some 800 years.
"The Arabic influences on the town and its culture are clearly visible here and its narrow streets are best explored on foot," she explained.
Chartered flights to Mombasa from Manchester Airport depart from Terminal 2 and are provided by Thomson Airways, with the average journey taking approximately nine hours and 30 minutes.
According to Ms Sloan, the destination is also a fantastic place to pick up "unusual" souvenirs.
The Old Town is "rich in art, antiques and ancient architecture", she went on to say, with the Portuguese-built Fort Jesus – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – located nearby.
