World’s top airports named

Seoul’s Incheon International Airport has been named the World’s Best Airport – a title it was last awarded in 2009.

The World Airport awards are organised by Skytrax and are based on 12 million passenger surveys – 385 airports were eligible for an award this year.

Take a look at the list below and you will see which other airports kept Incheon company in the top five – you might notice that many of the airports can be found in the same continent!

5. Beijing Capital International Airport

For the third successive year, Beijing scooped the prize as being the best airport in China; it also topped the poll in the Best Airport Baggage Delivery category.

4. Amsterdam Schiphol Airport

Amsterdam Schiphol Airport won the award for Best Airport in Europe and confirmed its reputation for being the best airport in Europe for transit passengers.

3. Hong Kong International Airport

Hong Kong International Airport might not have been able to win the Best Airport award for the ninth time but it did come out on top in the Best Airport Dining Experience and Best Airport Terminal Cleanliness categories.

2. Singapore Changi Airport

How many British airports have a swimming pool, open gardens and cinema like Singapore’s does? No wonder this airport won the prize for being the airport with the best leisure facilities.

While some airports are just content to house a Tie Rack and a Burger King, Incheon has a golf course, ice skating rink, indoor gardens and a Museum of Korean Culture. It has so many facilities that you could easily spend a whole day there!
