Citymapper: making journey planning easy

Calling all city tourists; we have, right at your fingertips, the app that you need to make travelling around big cities so much easier. And that app is Citymapper.

CitymapperWe all know the importance of travel and how big an impact it can have on our mood. Most of us have also experienced that ever so frequent commuter frustration as we arrive at the station only to find out our train has been delayed or cancelled. Exploring and finding your way around a big city can often be a testing task, even for regulars, and it is transport apps like Citymapper that can change the way you travel and make life just that little bit easier, even amongst the hustle and bustle.

Perfect for city locals and overseas visitors alike, this app is available on iPhone and Android, allowing you to navigate the city from the comfort of your mobile phone. Covering multiple transport options from tube and bus, to cycling or walking, it makes finding the best and most effective journey really simple.

How does Citymapper work?

Easy to use and navigate, the app acts as your own detailed journey planner. Check departure times and keep up-to-date with disruption alerts that have the potential to hinder your day’s travelling. Transport icons can be used to see local bus stops and their routes, as well as finding your closest tube and rail stations, along with cycle hire. App features allow you to enter postcodes, names of establishments and attractions around the city to help you get where you need to be, stress-free and on time for any important appointments. You no longer need to worry about asking for directions, as app features such as ‘Take me home’ will, at the click of a button, instantly find the perfect route that will direct you back to where you need be.

No travel task seems too big for this app. Simply enter your desired journey and Citymapper will generate a multitude of ways to travel to your desired destination. The app does an excellent job keeping information clear and structured and whilst being pleasing to the eye, the icons and colour coding systems help users navigate through the relevant information as quickly and easily as possible.

Editor’s note: my travelling group and I used this app during a recent trip to Paris, and it saved us loads of time as we didn’t get lost and have to rely on our patchy French to constantly ask for directions! I’d highly recommend downloading this app to help you find your way around new cities home and abroad.
