Spar opens at Stansted Airport
Passengers travelling from the London hub will now be able to buy from the grocery store before they embark on their journey.
The new Spar shop was officially opened this morning by Nick Barton, the airport's commercial and development director.
It is situated between WH Smith and Moneycorp and will sell everything from hot and cold drinks, to snacks, food items and beauty essentials.
John English, head of retail at Stansted, said many of the shops at the airport had reported better trading than at their high street stores.
"We're seeing a strong retail performance at Stansted, contrary to the current high street trend," he explained.
Spar, which has 16,000 shops worldwide and 2,600 in the UK, has a strong commitment to recycling and has stopped using free carrier bags.
More than 22.8 million people travel through Stansted Airport each year making it the UK's third busiest travel hub after Gatwick and Heathrow.
