Inverness Airport Information

Inverness Airport is in Dalcross, approx. 8 miles northeast of Inverness in Scotland. It is mainly gateway for travellers to the north of Scotland with a range of scheduled services mainly serving destinations within Scotland, the UK and Europe.

Built by the Air Ministry in 1940, as RAF Dalcross, it was used in the Second World War. British European Airways, then started flights to Heathrow Airport in the mid-1970s. In 1996 EasyJet launched a daily service to London Luton and other destinations and airlines were added.

It is owned by Highlands and Islands Airports Limited (HIAL) and in 2016 the airport handled around 780,000 passengers. Flybe and EazyJet fly to most destinations from Inverness Airport

How to Get to Inverness Airport

The airport is situated right off the A96 which is the main road which links Inverness and Aberdeen.

You should take the A96 out of Inverness and it’s just fifteen-minutes’ drive from the city centre.

Car Parking Options at Inverness Airport

There is a choice of short and long stay parking available. Disabled car parking spaces are available at the closest point to the terminal building within the two short stay car parks and in the long stay facility.

Call points have been installed in the main car park for any disabled assistance required.  Blue Badge holders requiring to park on a long stay basis may do so in the short stay car park, they need to take their badge and parking ticket to the airport information desk for payment and validation.

Depending on your budget there are different options to suit your pocket from Short Stay to the Long Stay car park a little further away.

Long Stay Parking Inverness Airport

The Long Stay car park is situated and accessed to the right of the airport terminal building. Transfers aren't needed as the car park is only an 800m walk to the terminal.

 

Short Stay Parking Inverness Airport

The official on-airport Short Stay car park is situated outside the airport terminal building, so you can’t get closer, transfers aren't needed as it's just a two-minute walk to check-in.

Inverness Airport Departure Lounge

For passengers needing to be refreshed whilst waiting to board their flights, among others you will find Café Rapide, The Meeting Place and the Stag and Thistle Bar and Kitchen serving a wide variety of food and drinks.

There is also a selection of shops selling everything from newspapers (WH Smith) and whisky to candles, hand poured in the Isle of Harris and other gifts.

Other facilities within the departure lounge include a multi-denominational chapel available to all passengers, a well-equipped parenting room and toilets with wheelchair access. The cold water supplied to the sinks in the toilet facilities is drinking water and free disposable plastic cups are provided.

Free WiFi internet access is available by logging into Airport Free Wi-Fi when you’re in the terminal.
