Air passengers have named Gatwick Airport the best of the ten busiest gateways in Europe for security waiting times.
The result was part of a quarterly Airports Council International survey which sought the opinions of passengers on a range of different service factors.
Andy Flower, managing director of Gatwick, said the top rating for security queue times was down to the "dedication and commitment" of airport staff.
He added: "This time last year Gatwick came seventh out of ten for security queue times, so to be voted top today is a real achievement.
"Many thanks and congratulations to everyone for making this result possible, and for helping to keep passengers safe and secure."
The last 12 months have seen the addition of 650 security staff and seven new security lanes at Gatwick.
