Gatwick Airport information
Gatwick Airport, also known as London Gatwick Airport, in is in the south-east of England, approx. 30 miles south of Central London and around 3 miles north of the town of Crawley.
Opening as an aerodrome in the late 1920s, it has been used by commercial travellers since 1933 and has two terminals. By number of passengers it is currently the second-busiest UK airport and the eight-busiest in Europe. In 2016, 43.1 million passengers passed through the airport.
The airport has been owned and operated by Gatwick Airport Limited since 2009. The airline with the most flights from Gatwick Airport is currently EasyJet, but there are many others, the larger ones include including Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, Norwegian Air Shuttle, Thompson Airways and Thomas Cook Airways.
How to Get to Gatwick Airport
Gatwick Airport is linked directly to the M23 at Junction 9 and to the A23 London-Brighton road and is just a ten-minute drive from the M25

To get between the airport terminals, you just need to take the shuttle service. It runs 24 hours a day, every day, running between the two terminals every few minutes and with a journey time of just two minutes its very quick.
Car Parking Options at Gatwick Airport
There are many options for parking services at Gatwick Airport, both on-airport and off-airport as well as meet and greet parking.
On-Airport Parking at Gatwick Airport
There are several on-airport parking options to choose from the Short Stay Multi-storeys to one of the three Long stay car Parks run by Gatwick Airport and they all have the Park Mark accreditation for safer parking and they all run a free transfer coach from the car park into the terminal.
Long Stay Gatwick Parking
There is Long Stay South car park, not to be confused with Long Stay North car park. Both these car parks are served by a free shuttle bus and are self-park where you keep your keys. There is also The Summer Special Car Park, which currently transfers only to the North Terminal, but you will need to leave your keys at this one.
Short Stay Car Parks Gatwick Airport
There are six Short Stay Multi-storey car parks, but they are at a premium price and are likely to be used for shorter stays.
Off-Airport Parking near Gatwick Airport
Gatwick Airport is well served with approved off-airport park and ride car parks including APH, Purple Parking Gatwick and Cophall Parking. These car parks will require you to leave your car keys. Simply drop your car off and hop on the transfer bus for a quick journey to Gatwick taking approx. 10 minutes.
Meet and Greet at Gatwick Airport
Again, there are quite a few options here. For Meet and Greet parking operators who have been approved not only by the airport, but by trading standards too, you can choose from companies like I Love Meet and Greet and Help-me-park who will meet you outside your departure terminal, or ACE Meet and Greet who meet in the adjacent short-term car parks. .
This type of parking can be very helpful if you have mobility issues, as its the nearest you can get to park by the airport terminal building and its also great if you have bulky items such as skis and golf clubs or lots of luggage, young children with pushchairs etc.
Hotels with parking at Gatwick Airport
At Gatwick, you have the luxury of hotels attached by an indoor walkway to your departure terminal. For instance, there is the Hilton Hotel at Gatwick South Terminal and the Sofitel Hotel at Gatwick North terminal. Both these hotels come with parking packages for maximum convenience.
If you are happy to stay a little further out, the rates go down. Why not try the Holiday Inn Gatwick close to North terminal, the traditional style Copthorne London Gatwick hotel built around a 16th century farmhouse just a 10 minute transfer away, or the modern Sandman Signature Hotel also 10 minutes away with their recently refurbished rooms and public areas. The choices don't stop either as there as there are many more and most will be available with a parking package making it the smart choice for those early flights or late returns.
Gatwick Airport Departure Lounge
At both North and South terminals there is a good choice of cafes and restaurants to suit most tastes, like Yo!, Nando’s, Giraffe, Wagamama and Costa to name but a few. Bars include Wetherspoons and Union Jacks Bar by Jamie Oliver.
If you like to indulge in some duty-free shopping, as well as the World Duty Free you can find many of your favourite stores such as Michael Kors, Cath Kidston, Fatface, Lacoste, Snow + Rock, Ted Baker, Superdry, just a few of many and of course the must have news-agents and Beauty/Pharmacy store.
When you arrive at the airport you can enjoy 90 minutes free Wi-Fi and if you want to be online for longer, then high speed wi-fi is provided at the airport by Boingo Hotspot for a fee.
If you like to have a cigarette before your flight, you may want to note that you can only smoke outside the terminal buildings in the clearly marked designated zones. That means once you've passed through security, there there's no smoking at all, even if for passengers connecting from an international to international flight.
If you need special assistance at Gatwick Airport, they recommend you contact your airline at least 48 hours before you are due to fly to make sure you can book the specific mobility services you need to get on your flight in time. Bear in mind you may need to inform your airline of any mobility items you need to have on the flight with you, especially larger items like wheelchairs or mobility scooters.
Gatwick Airport Lounge
For an escape from the hustle and bustle and a comfortable start to your journey, you can also book an executive lounge. These can be used by any passengers flying out of Gatwick Airport regardless of the airline you are flying with and what class your ticket is.
There are a few lounges to choose from depending which terminal you are flying from. At the North Terminal, there is the No:1 Lounge, as well as the more intimate My Lounge and the Aspire Lounge, whereas at the South Terminal you can enjoy the No:1 Lounge.
Whilst you are enjoying the peace and comfort, you can enjoy complementary drinks from the bar including soft drinks, beers, wines and spirits as well as hot beverages and hot and cold snacks from the pantry table.

Excellent service. Up graded to an executive room which was well worth the extra money especially as you can use the executive lounge which was excellent and had a full breakfast in the garden restaurant. There was only one problem, when the car was delivered back to me at Gatwick Airport North Terminal all the blowers including demisters back and front were on full.As i was driving down the M23 on the way home I had a warning light on the dashboard. I managed to get onto the M25 and came off at Hacketts lane services where I had to contact the AA. As they were busy I had a 2 hour wait for the patrol to arrive which was not very good. The reason for the warning light was because the valleting company had used the blowers on full blast to heat up the inside of the car and clear the car windows as the car had been left standing outside and was very damp and this caused the cars management system to malfunction. Perhaps Maple Valleting could think about this in the future. Other than this I would use the I love meet & greet- Hilton package again when travelling from Gatwick

Have used Cophall Parking for many years now. They have provided a consistent service over that time; a service provider who gives you confidence. Parking charges are good value. Staff are always cheerful even late into the night or in the very early hours of the morning. If only others would be like that.

Absolutely fine for the drop off at the airport, however on the return had to wait half an hour for the car to be returned. The whole idea of meet and greet parking is your car should be available five minutes after making the phone call to say you have got your bags and have cleared customs. What is so disappointing is the fact you get a message as soon as you have landed to welcome you back and then advise you the car wont be delivered back for another 25 minutes after ringing them.

The closest option at Gatwick would be a Meet & Greet where you'll be met outside the terminal and have just a short walk across in to the airport building.
The most convenient service would be from companies such as I Love Meet & Greet or ABC Meet & Greet where they'll meet you on the forecourt or ACE Meet & Greet and Sure Parking who will meet you in the short stay car park opposite the terminal.
If you're looking for a Park & Ride at Gatwick then Bubble Park & Deliver has just a 3 minute transfer and your car will be delivered back to the terminal for collection or APH, Cophall Parking and Purple Parking are all located within 10 minutes of Gatwick.

This depends on a number of things. If you're travelling with young children, have mobility issues or don't want to use a transfer bus then Meet and Greet would be the option for you. You can be met outside the airport terminal and have your car collected, driven to the secure car park near Gatwick by an insured driver and then delivered back to the terminal ready for collection on your return.
If you don't mind a short transfer to Gatwick then choosing an off-site car park can save you money. Simply head to the car park following the directions we'll send you in your confirmation email, drop your car off and hop on the transfer bus to either the North or South Terminal.
Depending on the meet and greet service you choose to book, you'll either be outside the terminal on the forecourt or in the short stay car park just a short walk across to the terminal building.

Short Stay Car Park Meeting Point
You can also book a Return Meet at Gatwick with Bubble Park & Deliver where you drive your car to the car park on the way out and then they conveniently deliver the car park back to the terminal for your return.
It's not a problem if your flight back to Gatwick is delayed. Your car will be kept safe and you can pay for any additional days parking at the car park when you return to collect your vehicle.
It's very common nowadays for people to fly out of one terminal and back into another and it's not a problem at all.
All of our Gatwick car parks operate at both the North and South Terminal. Once you have selected your chosen car park and clicked through to the booking form you can select different departure and return terminals if the car park require that information in advance.
There isn't a discount for booking more than one car but if you have a discount code or promotional email offer then this will be applied to all the cars on the booking.
If you're looking to make a booking to park more than one car at Gatwick then you can easily do this on our website. Simply enter your dates and times, choose the option that best suits you and when you click through to the booking form you'll have the option to "Add a car" and can make a booking for up to 5 vehicles at the same time.
Cancelling a booking is dependent on the type of product booked and the car park type as Non-flexible bookings cannot be cancelled at any time.
Flexible bookings can be cancelled any time after the booking is made, up to 24 hours before your booking arrival date.
There is a £10 cancellation fee, with the balance refunded. unless you took out the waiver fee when booking.

Unfortunately, we cannot offer a refund on bookings that aren’t used due to a vehicle breaking down.
The transfers are included in the price for the Gatwick park and ride car parks.
The Meet and Greet options are a short walk into the airport terminal.
Except I Love Self Park, all the car parks will require you to leave your car keys when you are parking with them.
Non-flexible bookings cannot be amended or cancelled. Flexible bookings can be amended without incurring an amendment fee, however if the amendment results in a price increase ( e.g. a date change), you will be required to pay the additional amount. We'll send you an email confirmation following your booking. This will confirm all the details of your booking, including a booking reference, so you can check that everything is ok.

To re-send your booking confirmation, find your booking and select the 'Re-send booking confirmation' option.

An invoice showing payment made will be sent to you by separate email from either Worldpay or from PayPal.
We don't use the parking confirmation as a payment receipt, as they sometimes need to be handed over to the car park.
You can get a VAT invoice by going to our Help page and clicking on Request VAT Invoice
Most car parks charge per day or part thereof, i.e. they count the day you enter the car park and the day you leave. That means a 7 night trip is 8 calculated as days parking and a 14 night trip will be 15 days parking.
This will depend on the car park you book, but we recommend that you arrive to drop the car off at least minutes 30 minutes prior to your earliest check-in/bag drop time.
The 'parking from' time on your confirmation is the time slot the car park has allocated you, so it’s important to let us know if you need to change the time, if its more than 24 hours before you are due to park. If it is less than 24 hours before your meet is due, you should call the chauffeurs using the number on your confirmation voucher.
Vehicle Details We can update vehicle details at any point. There is no charge for amending vehicle details.
Dates & Times Most bookings can be changed up to 24 hours before the booked arrival date. However, if you have booked an option marked as Non-refundable or Saver then the dates and times on these options cannot be amended and the booking cannot be cancelled. We are unable to amend details with 24 hours of your booked arrival date.
