Glasgow Prestwick Airport Information
Glasgow Prestwick Airport is an international airport serving the West of Scotland, just over a mile from the town of Prestwick and 32 miles from Glasgow City. It is Scotland's fifth busiest airport in terms of passenger traffic and in recent years, passenger traffic has declined with around 670,000 passengers passing through the airport in 2016.
Although it is less busy than Glasgow Airport in Paisley, Glasgow Prestwick Airport could become the European hub for commercial space flights.
At one-time Prestwick was the only Scottish airport allowed to operate a transatlantic link, having a lower incidence of fog than any other airport in the United Kingdom. For this reason, it is often used as a diversionary airport when weather conditions close aviation hubs elsewhere in the United Kingdom.
Glasgow Prestwick Airport is also famous, as the only place in the UK where Elvis Presley was known to have set foot, when the US Army transport plane carrying him home from Germany, stopped to refuel.
How to Get to Glasgow Prestwick Airport
Glasgow Prestwick Airport has the best ground transport links of all the airports in Scotland, easily accessed from the M77/A77.

The information about collecting a ticket and getting it validated needs to be updated as they have number pate auto recognition now, so this is no longer applies. Otherwise a pretty straight forward process. Note you cant take airport trolleys over the walkway to the car park so you need to be able to handle your luggage without one.

I tried various sites before booking. I decided on FHR as their advice was very clear, especially the hit to drop off luggage first.

On arrival, the car park we were supposed to be in was closed, we eventually were directed to another one which didnât recognise the number plate so had to take a ticket. This meant that in return we had the inconvenience of having to go to the information desk to avoid having to pay again. It turned out that our parking had been upgraded to the car park closest to the terminal, but nobody had bothered to tell us. A bit of a faff, but ok in the end
