Luton Airport rolls out ‘queue-jumping’ scheme

Luton Airport rolls out 'queue-jumping' schemePassengers flying from Luton Airport are to be given the option of bypassing queues leading up to security checks.

For a fee of £3, which can either be paid online or at one of several kiosks dotted throughout the airport terminals, passengers will be able to enjoy direct access to the checkpoint, thereby cutting their waiting time substantially.

According to airport bosses, the new scheme has been rolled out to give an "executive lounge" feel to travelling out of Luton as well as cutting back on congestion within the terminal buildings.

Simon May, commercial manager at London Luton, said: "We have worked hard to reduce waiting times at security for all passengers and improve customer service across the airport.

"However, it is important to offer a choice of services to suit all passengers and we know that some people value being able to guarantee the quickest route to the security search point."

Such a queue-jumping scheme is already in place in several UK airports, including LeedsBradford, Liverpool and Bristol.
