British Airways (BA) cabin crew have begun a five-day walkout today (May 24th) affecting passengers at Heathrow Airport.
The airline plans to operate the majority of its services during this time, with all flights leaving from both Gatwick Airport and London City Airport. Pickets are in force at Heathrow Airport.
Passengers are being asked by BA not to turn up at Heathrow Airport unless they have a confirmed booking. Those who have had their flights cancelled should contact their travel agent or the airline to find out about their rebooking options.
In a statement BA said that members of the cabin crew reported for work at Gatwick Airport this morning.
"Our operations around the world have got off to a good start this morning (Monday). The numbers of cabin crew reporting at Heathrow are currently at the levels we need to operate our published schedule," the statement read.
Unite’s previous strike, which was due to begin on May 18th , was cancelled following a High Court injunction that has since been over turned by the Court of Appeal.
