Adventure Holidays for Families

The best kind of family holidays are active ones, where you get to create memories and enjoy one-of-a-kind experiences together.

For younger kids who adore Disney and theme parks then Disneyland Orlando and accompanying theme parks such as Busch Gardens are an obvious choice.

However, Florida also offers plenty of active holidays that don’t involve theme parks. The Everglades provide the opportunity to go exploring and on boat rides where you can admire the wildlife. The little ones will also love seeing the manatees at Blue Springs State Park.

For the little ones that are adventurers at heart and adore the great outdoors, a camping trip in Sweden might be just the ticket. Paddle along the Klarälven River, camp on the river banks, and take the kids hiking in the forest.

Got some talented surfers in the family or little ones who love the water? Karma Surf Retreat located just outside Lisbon, Portugal offers surfing for parents and children over six. Lisbon is also a fabulous city to uncover with lots of attractions to show the kids, such as Lisbon Oceanarium, Belem Tower, Lisbon Zoo and São Jorge Castle.

Family ski-ing holidays are always great fun. Take the kids skiing in the French Alps, or for a budget ski holiday, head to the slopes in Bulgaria. Another colder climate to uncover with your family is Alaska, which is a paradise for explorers. Here you can go whale spotting, wander through Glacier Bay National Park and try horseback riding.

The Amazon

If you are willing to travel a little further afield and head off the beaten track, go on a holiday of a lifetime and stay in a treehouse lodge in the Amazon.
