Hotels Offering ‘FREE’ Drink Receptions

There appears to be a new development in the hotel world, and we love it… FREE WINE, and in some cases, a lot more! Whether you are off out for a sumptuous meal or just chilling out for the night, this informal get together is a great way to start the evening. Maybe get to know some of your fellow guests whilst grabbing a free drink and, if you’re lucky, appetisers are thrown in too.

Here are a few of the hotels we found offering this not-to-be-missed giveaway:

The Library Hotel, New York

The Library Hotel in New York serves a selection of drinks, including Prosecco and fine wines, from 5 to 8pm in the Reading Room. Also on offer are imported and domestic cheeses, fresh bread, crackers and crudités. This is not so much a happy hour as a veritable feast!

Embassy Suites at the Hilton, various worldwide locations

Every evening at the Embassy Suites by Hilton, the complimentary Evening Reception includes free snacks and beverages for guests. These include light appetisers, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Hotel Kong Arthur, Copenhagen

white-wineThis well reviewed central hotel refers to a ‘cozy hour’ between 5 – 6pm each day, when you receive a complementary glass of wine or beer. The freebies change from day to day.  According to the hotel, this gives all the guests a chance to mingle with each other in the cozy foyer.

Hotel Angeleno, Los Angeles

It is wine hour early evening for all guests, and munchies as an accompaniment, don’t mind if I do. This is also a ‘skip the tip’ gratuity free hotel, it gets better!

Aria Hotel, Budapest

There is a whole bundle of freebies at this hotel. Join them for a complementary wine and cheese reception between 4 and 6 each afternoon.  There are a number of Hungarian and international cheeses served with breads, fresh fruit, nuts and olives. Help yourself anytime to a complementary selection of black, green and herbal teas or coffee, or bottled water. Fruit is also available to all guests throughout the day. All this can be enjoyed along with live music from local musicians, every afternoon.

Of course, these are just a sample of a huge array of ‘free’ offers available. As hotels compete for our custom, this trend will hopefully become the norm and we will be showered with offers to entice us to book a room at that special hotel. Watch this space!
