We booked the Copthorne Gatwick hotel via the website as we really enjoy staying there but when we arrived we were advised actually you are at Effingham. This was a poor hotel in comparison, there was a wedding so very noisy, no parking spaces and not on the same scale as the other hotel. Also when we returned someone had parked so close due to the lack of spaces my husband had to go in via the passenger side!

A busy transit hotel. Expensive snacks and drinks, but to be expected at this sort of location. Courteous staff Room uncomfortably warm, no means of reducing temps. Would probably use again, although unlikely that I would fly from Gatwick again.

We thought that the Copthorne Hotel was an excellent hotel which offered us up to 8 days free parking. The car was kept safe and secure with no hassle at all. The staff were polite and organised. On our return, I handed in our pass number and we were handed our car keys. The car was in the same place as we left it so it was very easy to find - in the car-park nearest to the hotel. Much, much better than having to park the car at the airport. Not to mention the high costs the airports charge. There was a very convenient shuttle bus from the hotel to the airport which was great.

Lovely hotel in a peaceful setting, room was amazingly large with a balcony and clean and comfortable. Staff were polite and professional in their duties and always willing to help if needed. Breakfast was very nice with a variety of different items to suit everybody. We found this hotel to be excellent value and will use again if flying from Gatwick.

The reason I have given a 5 star rating is because we find this hotel just perfect for an overnight stay before you fly. The beds are comfy and there is tea and coffee facilities in the room. We have used this hotel twice a year for some time and the parking arrangements have never been a problem. The taxi shuttle service before your holiday is ideal and on your return you phone for a taxi and you get a message on your phone to say the registration of the taxi. I would definitely reccomend F H R and Copthorne Effingham for the start to your holiday.

We upgraded to a superior room with a balcony for our one night stay, this included breakfast, which made it good value,my criticism is the bedroom carpet was quiet threadbare, which was not what you expect in an upgrade. On the positive the staff were very friendly and helpful,we made a request for our car to be left in the main car park, and this was done. We enjoyed an evening bar meal, well presented Altogether good value stay.

The hotel was good, the room comfortable as were the beds. The only downfall is that we booked an early morning alarm call, and it didn't happen. All that was said something mechanically must have gone wrong. We were still in bed (be it 5.15) when we had a phone call to say the taxi was there. So there was a mad scramble to get dressed, repack cases. So no wash, no tea, and hair looking like I'd gone through a hedge backwards. I was not amused. Note to self do not rely on these calls, set your mobiles to wake you as well. Hotel wasn't overly apologetic either

We last stayed at this hotel 11 years ago - unfortunately it looks like nothing has been done in that time. All looking very tired and dated now, and the bar area is so depressing. The rooms were ok but 1970's paper thin walls just don;t cut it any more. Parking was ok but they need to state the fact that you are requested to leave keys - we haven't in the past and refused to this time also as were not aware prior so had left items in it.

FHR booking service was as usual first rate! Hotel is good for overnight stay, but rooms are getting a bit tired. However they are clean and comfortable. The hotel has now introduced an overnight parking charge of £2.00 if you are not parking with them for your holiday duration, which was a surprise to me. Never had to pay to park if I was staying in a hotel before!!!
