Description of Copthorne Hotel Effingham Saver

The Copthorne Hotel Effingham Gatwick, set in 40 acres of parkland, has extensive leisure facilities including a 9 hole golf course, but is ideally situated for travellers using Gatwick Apt.


Rooms have en-suite bathroom, tea and coffee tray, TV, direct dial telephone, trouser press and hair dryer. Please note all rooms are non smoking.

We have used this hotel on many occasions prior to going on holiday. The hotel rooms are slightly dated, but adequate for an overnight stay.We will use it again as the price is very good, plus I like to leave my car at the hotel, not drive miles away to park it at another car park.We always use United Taxi's on our return, they are professional,on time and it's fair price of £13.50. I would recommend this hotel.

Good location although taxi on way to airport £13.50 and £18 on way home. Food and drink reasonable in bar Good standard of room and parking on site We’ve stayed at a few hotels near Gatwick but this was more pleasant than most and reasonably priced

The room was pleasant enough but quite noisy. We didn’t realise there is a £5 charge per person for the coach drop, or that a taxi costing £13.50 was needed for the return from the airport. We decided to get a taxi to the airport because the transfer bus only runs once an hour. Unfortunately the receptionist booked it for 7:30 instead of 6:30 as requested. This made a really stressful start to the day.

we have stayed at the hotel many times and it always has been a good experience. we booked hotel and parking for the night of the 4th October 2018, at approx 1am our neighbours in the next room, arrived from the bar in the hotel and continued to party and make a considerable noise, we let it ride until 1.30am and asked them to keep the noise down, we were given verbal abuse. Called Reception and the night manager spoke to the guests and was also given verbal abuse, we could hear the conversation. After she left the noise continued and again we asked them to keep the noise down. we called reception again and male reception staff called and they refused to open the door, he left and called back around 10 - 20 minutes later and they opened the door, when advised he would call the police. He was also given verbal abuse and left. The noise continued for another 3/4 hour and then went silent. We complained in the morning to the night manager and she indicated they had problems at the bar with the same party and had to speak to them on a couple of occasions. Night manager apologised and i advised i would be complaining. My car was should a fault and asked the hotel not to move the car, the night manager and the reception agreed this and we put this on the paperwork. My car was moved by the manager and gave the excuse it could have been damaged by guests attending functions. Not very happy and expressed my dissatisfaction, especially if they had caused the vehicle damage. The manager advised he would refund my booking fee i paid for the stay and parking This was a bad experience from a hotel we like to stay, as the price and location is good

Booked this hotel with friends prior to holiday flight from Gatwick During the booking process all the internet pages appeared to indicate that we were booking the Copthorne in Copthorne village complete with village pub etc We thought this would be a great start to the holiday! Only on arrival did we find out that we were in the Copthorne at Effingham park a few miles up the road. Really disappointed! The hotel was adequate and lots of parking. Transfers to and from Gatwick ok and timely although charged for them. Overall experience ok but was hoping for much better!

The hotel staff are excellent in their attention to your wants and needs, they are very courteous towards their guests be it in the reception, restaurant, or bar, and the food is of excellent quality. The rooms are comfortable and spacious and very clean, and all amenities are provided i,e tea, coffee and such like, The hotel offer long stay parking during your holiday away, this is the third time I have stay at this particular hotel and I have never had a issue with the security of my car it's always in the same place that I left it and without damage. The only thing I can say that detracts from the quality of the hotel is the décor I think it's a little bit dated now, and a touch up here and there would not go amiss, as this hotel is also a golfing and multi function venue it is very popular so I would recommend early booking in the season. As my wife and I are already planning for next year we are looking forward to staying here again so I will be booking around about February/ March time.

All went well after we found the place, parking was a bit harem-scarem in the dark, with very muddy roadway. However the room and breakfast were fine and the car was safe. Taxis both ways were fine too.

Good and helpful service when I had to add another person to the booking. Used hotel before so it was what I expected but thought some areas of the hotel needed painting e.g. The outside of the hotel. Great value for money. I will continue to use your company when I need to in future.

Overall, okay but I have a few points for you to consider, if you really do want to improve service, and not just pay lip service to customer care. A good size room and everything worked well. All staff were competent, helpful and friendly. This is a real compliment, I cannot often report. Hotel was noisier than we would have liked due to someone parking an HGV of some type with trailer etc outside our window from about 2130 to 2200. This involved somebody shouting instructions to the driver for this period of time. We thought that it would end soon, but it went on and on... True, this is not that late, but the whole reason we were there was to get an early night before an early 0330 alarm call! The change of price of the return taxi was very naughty. The website and the paperwork emailed stated £11.50, and this changed to £13.50 by magic, at a time when there were few alternative's. I am sure the taxi firm and the poor drivers who have had to implement the unannounced changes, have expressed their feelings already.

Hotel normally very good as we have stayed there before when flying out of Gatwick but this time service was very slow took ages to get checked in and when we ordered dinner the pie I ordered came out different to the one I picked, the excuse was that the chef has been very busy oh and the WI FI wasn't working so lots of people asking for their money back as they were still charging people for it knowing it wasn't working next time a different hotel for us!

Despite a late arrival at the hotel (9.30pm) we were able to obtain two bowls of soup, bread and coffee in the Sports Bar. However, we requested an early morning call for 5.00am and were woken at 3.00am - difficult to return to sleep not knowing if the call would be received at the requested time! First airport shuttle at 5.15 am and only at hourly intervals thereafter so we booked a taxi which at £11.50 each way to North Terminal of LGWwas only slightly more expensive than two persons using the Shuttle bus and considerably more convenient. Accommodation & facilities comfortable but Public areas now in need of refurbishment.

Pretty average hotel which falls nicely into our price bracket. Considering the cost of stay includes 7 nights car park (intended consequence) it was a reasonable deal. We didn't dine in the hotel restaurant and walked to the Duke's Head instead (half a mile down the pavement along the main road).

Continue along this road and the Effingham Park Hotel is situated on the right,before the T junction.
