Hotel was OK but food provided in the bar and carvery was very poor. The worst thing, however, was not being told that the shuttle bus stops running at a certain time in the evening. On returning to Gatwick we had to phone for a taxi to return us to the hotel so incurred additional expense and hassle. We will not stay at this hotel again, although I must say the staff we encountered were very nice and accommodating, they just seemed rushed off their feet and understaffed.

Staff were very unfriendly. When we booked the website said free transfers yet we had to pay for transfer to the airport and pay for taxi back even tho we got told transfers were 24 hours not that they stopped at 9 pm. There were no car parking spaces left even tho we had booked. We literally had to park in a bush which was not very good. Would not stay here again.

hotel was worse I have ever stayed in. Advised only hot food available was carvery which was rubbish only to find bar food available and it was great. Transfer was very good

We were given a room (more accurately described as a box) where there wasn't enough space to wheel our case into the room between the door and the bed. It had no windows, stifling hot and no air (in July). Viewed another room, but it was a smoking room, and reeked so badly it took your breath away on opening the door. Ended up in a room slightly bigger than the first, with a skylight window which couldn't be opened and had the hottest, most uncomfortable nights sleep before our flight. Would never put ourselves through that ordeal again.

The hotel reception charged when you paid with a debit card, ridiculous.. The rooms were very dated & in need of a major upgrade.

Excellent value for money. Rooms could do with updating though. We had a deal which included parking, dinner with wine & breakfast plus transfers to/from the airport. Stayed for 1 night on our return also at a good price. Car as we left it a week earlier.

Russ hill is basic but clean and if you just want a place to sleep its fine, good value for what you get.
Danny Mitchell - 18 May 2014 18:22:03
For us it was adequate for our needs, no fuss, no frills. The rooms are comfortable enough although some are a little snug. The food was ok but the breakfast could have been hotter also, there were limited amounts of fruit juices on offer, almost as though the restaurant staff didn't want to put too much in the containers in case there were not a lot of guests taking breakfast. Having said that the room was clean and comfy which was the important thing.
