Birmingham Airport, formerly Elmdon Airport, opened in 1939. It is an international airport, situated in Bickenhill, Solihull, around 6 miles southeast of Birmingham city centre and is mainly reached by the main A45 and is near to junction 6 of the M42.

Birmingham Airport is the seventh busiest airport in the UK, after Edinburgh, carrying over 11.6 million passengers in 2016. Flights include international destinations in Europe the Middle East, North America and the Caribbean and is an operating base for a number of low cost and charter airlines.

Currently owned by Seven Metropolitan Boroughs of West Midlands, Airport Employees through a shared trust and Ontario Teachers Pension Plan who have also invested in Bristol Airport.

Car Parking Options at Birmingham Airport

There are a number of parking options at Birmingham Airport, both on-airport and off-airport as well as meet and greet parking.

On-Airport Parking at Birmingham Airport

The airport has several on-airport parking options to choose from, short stay Multi storey through to the Long Stay car parks. These car parks run by NCP for Birmingham Airport have the Park Mark accreditation for safer parking.

Long Stay Parking at Birmingham Airport

Birmingham's official on-airport parking includes the Long Stay car park 5, just a 5-minute shuttle bus transfer or a 10-minute walk of the terminal building, offering great value parking close to the airport.

Short Stay Parking Birmingham Airport

Car Park 1 is the Multi-storey short stay, which is directly opposite the airport terminal and Car Parks 2 & 3 are also on-airport self-park multi-storey car parks within 2-minute walk of the terminal building.

Off-Airport Parking near Birmingham Airport

Cheaper options available off the airport will include a free transfer bus, however unlike parking at the airport, you will usually need to leave your car keys at this type of car park.

APH is an off-airport car park with the Park-mark award and have been voted 'Best Airport Parking Company' at the British Travel Awards for 6 years running. With just 10-15 minutes needed to transfer to the terminal on their regular bus shuttle it is very popular.

Airparks, another long-established car park serving Birmingham Airport, is around 15 minutes away, also offering very competitive rates.

Meet and Greet at Birmingham Airport

With this option, you will be met in Short Stay Car Park 3 at Birmingham airport, so buses are required. Your car is then taken to a secured site before it is bought back to the car park for your return so you can drive straight home.

Car parks offering this service include Ace Meet and Greet, Maple Manor Meet and Greet and Meteor Meet and Greet. The airport also has its own NCP Valet Parking.

This option is particularly useful for those with mobility difficulties, families and travellers with large items of luggage e.g. skiers, snowboarders and golfers etc.

Hotels with parking at Birmingham Airport

There are a number of hotels close by, serving both Birmingham Airport and the nearby NEC. If you are driving to the airport you can book a Birmingham hotel and parking package which will save you money on booking these two items separately.

The Hilton Metropole Hotel is a 4-star hotel located approximately 5 to 10 minutes from the airport terminal, but if you are on a budget then the Coventry Hill around 10-15 minutes from the airport is a good option and this comes with a meet and greet package too, so no transfers required.

Birmingham Airport Departure Lounge

In January 2011 the existing two terminals merged into a single new Terminal Building after adding two new floors.

Here you will find plenty of cafe's and restaurants including Frankie & Benny's, Costa and Giraffe, bars include All Bar One & Wetherspoons and a good variety of shops featuring among others, World duty free, Superdry, BOSS, Next, Boots and Pandora, as well the usual services such as a bureau de change, cash dispensers, toilets, baby changing rooms and a multi-faith prayer room.

Birmingham Airport also has free Wi-Fi that passengers can access anywhere in the terminal building.

Birmingham Airport Lounge

You can use an executive lounge for a comfortable start to your journey away from the hustle and bustle. The No:1 Lounge can be booked by any passengers, even if flying economy whichever airline you are flying with.

The No:1 Lounge now serves complimentary Prosecco along with a good range of wines, beers and spirits. Soft drinks, hot beverages and hot and cold snacks from the pantry table are also part of the benefits of booking.

FHR Meet and Greet - Non refundable

I book with FHR with all my airport parking but on this occasion I was disappointed. We had to walk almost 10 mins from the meet and greet to departure/arrival hall. on arrival the vehicle display had been tampered with... it took me 5 mins to sort and put back to original setting....

Ace Meet & Greet

Meet and greet area at Birmingham is a 5 min walk from terminal. It is not undercover so be prepared for all weather conditions. We had a 15 min wait on return in the cold. However, the area provided for M&G is no doubt provided by the airport so it is what it is and if you want this service you have to accept the location although not ideal.

Certainly wasn’t expecting a sandstorm in Tenerife and a delay of more than 24 hours. Fortunately the booking was ok ... but the number plate reader wasn’t working on entry, and on return the barrier wouldn’t lift saying we owed 308£ .... Sorted eventually but just another experience to add to the others in a holiday we won’t forget in a hurry .....

Maple Meet & Greet

Drop off was ok when we left the uk but on return we waited another 15 minutes in the car park with no shelter on a cold night for the car to turn up after we had called post luggage collection as instructed. They told us they only have a 10 minute window for exiting the car park area and then left us hanging around - they needed to do better than this. I would use them again but they will only get one more chance.

Airparks Drop and Go

We had difficulty retrieving our car key and had to get the bus driver to help. Being dyslexic five seconds to retrieve our key is not sufficient time to read all the instructions and then get the key . The bus driver said this has been happening ever since they have introduced this system . But the overall experience was good .

Blue Circle Meet & Greet

It was not well sign posted..but very well organised once we found it. Main disappointment was it was a fair walk to the terminal, being elderly, we use Meet and Greet to get as close as we can.

This would have been higher however when dropping car off the blue circle man was v rude. We had been waiting a little while when I saw him in his car. I went over and basically told me I had parked in wrong bay hence why he didn’t get out. I showed him the paperwork which clearly I was in the right bay. He was not a very nice person and I felt I was being talked down to because I was a woman

Frequently Asked Questions

Cancelling a booking is dependent on the type of product booked and the car park type as Non-flexible bookings cannot be cancelled at any time.

Flexible bookings can be cancelled any time after the booking is made, up to 24 hours before your booking arrival date.

There is a £10 cancellation fee, with the balance refunded. unless you took out the waiver fee when booking.

You can make the cancellation yourself by going to the help page and clicking on Cancel Booking

Holders of the Park Mark® award have been risk assessed by a crime prevention officer from the local police. The Safer Parking Scheme is an initiative of the Association of Chief Police Officers and is managed by the British Parking Association.

We'll send you an email confirmation following your booking. This will confirm all the details of your booking, including a booking reference, so you can check that everything is ok.

If you didn't receive a booking confirmation email from us, please check your email provider spam/junk folder.

To re-send your booking confirmation, find your booking and select the 'Re-send booking confirmation' option.

It is important to have access to your Booking Confirmation, but you don’t have to print it. You must however ensure it is fully visible on your phone or device, so you can see all the information, directions and procedures you need to follow.

Booking Confirmations are sent upon completion of your booking, so if you don’t see it in your inbox please check your Junk/Spam folder in case it is there. 

You can view or print or resend your confirmation voucher yourself by going to our help section and clicking on  View Booking or Resend Confirmation Email.

If you do not have the booking reference number, you can email us, or call us.

There is no charge to amend your car details.

You can make the change yourself by going to our help section and clicking on Amend Booking.

An invoice showing payment made will be sent to you by separate email from either Worldpay or from PayPal. 

We don't use the parking confirmation as a payment receipt, as they sometimes need to be handed over to the car park.  

You can get a VAT invoice by going to our Help page and clicking on Request VAT Invoice

Most car parks charge per day or part thereof, i.e. they count the day you enter the car park and the day you leave. That means a 7 night trip is 8 calculated as days parking and a 14 night trip will be 15 days parking.

This will depend on the car park you book, but we recommend that you arrive to drop the car off at least minutes 30 minutes prior to your earliest check-in/bag drop time. 

The 'parking from' time on your confirmation is the time slot the car park has allocated you, so it’s important to let us know if you need to change the time, if its more than 24 hours before you are due to park. If it is less than 24 hours before your meet is due, you should call the chauffeurs using the number on your confirmation voucher.

Vehicle Details We can update vehicle details at any point. There is no charge for amending vehicle details.

Dates & Times Most bookings can be changed up to 24 hours before the booked arrival date. However, if you have booked an option marked as Non-refundable or Saver then the dates and times on these options cannot be amended and the booking cannot be cancelled. We are unable to amend details with 24 hours of your booked arrival date.

Unfortunately, we cannot offer a refund on bookings that aren’t used due to a vehicle breaking down.

It's not a problem if your flight back to Birmingham Airport is delayed. Your car will be kept safe and you can pay for any additional parking at the car park when you return to collect your vehicle.
